A Warrior's Oasis News

We are very proud and excited to announce that A Warrior’s Oasis, Inc. has been granted the honor of becoming an official 'Certifying Organization' for the 'President’s Volunteer Service Award.'.

The President’s Volunteer Service Award was established in 2003 by an Executive Order from George W. Bush. President Bush's purpose of this tremendous program was to honor volunteers with an official civil award for their many hours given each year helping others. This beautiful award can be earned and granted to individuals, families and organizations to honor volunteer service hours given throughout the United States of America.

The President’s Volunteer Service Award recognizes U.S. citizens and lawfully approved, permanent residents of the United States who have earned the required number of hours through a period of twelve (12) months. Volunteers can elect to have their hours recorded and certified with A Warrior's Oasis, Inc. during the 12-month calendar year (January through December). So often, volunteers who give so much of their time to doing wonderful things for non-profit organizations do so without expecting any recognition for their time and service. We believe that it is important to recognize our volunteers officially for their never-ending compassion and service to others.

Based on certified volunteer service hours, individuals can receive the Presidential Bronze, Silver, or Gold award. In addition, the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award is bestowed upon those who have given 4,000 hours or more during their lifetime, families or groups with two or more people each giving volunteer service of 25 hours towards the total required hours for Bronze, Silver or Gold Awards.

Your volunteer service matters to A Warrior's Oasis, Inc., to our veteran and service member communities, and to our nation

Socorro Electric upgraded their meter and let AWO know that we are producing more energy than we are taking from the grid. What a great report card! We are proud to know that great solar production means that A Warrior's Oasis is doing all that we can to run the "day to day operations" efficiently. We want to give all that we can to future programs to help those who serve(d) and have the greatest impact on their lives.

We’ve added new energy efficient cellular window shades to all the windows inside the Betty Marlow Center. We are always looking for ways to keep energy costs down. Less overhead means more funds for future programs to help our service members and veterans. Please stand and partner with AWO and donate today. Make a difference in the lives of those that served us. #veterans #awarriorsoasis #warriors #woundedwarriors #illstandbyyou #fightptseveryday

Equine Assisted Therapy For Veterans Receives $5 Million Dollar Funding

On June 8th, 2018, the U.S. House of Representatives approved and passed H.R. 5895, for Fiscal Year 2019, The Energy and Water, Legislative Branch, and Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act, which adds increase funding for equine-assisted activities and therapies. This amendment directs the transfer of $5 million dollars from the VA’s Health Administration’s Medical Community Care Account to the Medical Services Account for the direct use for the VA’s Adaptive Sports Grant Program, Equine Assisted Therapy.

The funding increase will enable an expansion of services that use equine-assisted therapy in conjunction with mental health care treatment and services to veterans. We are extremely hopeful and excited that equine assisted therapy (EAT-PTS) will become a proven resource that yields a safe, comforting and promising treatment pathway for veterans and service members suffering with post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain injuries.

100% Of Your Donations at work! AWO's Picnic Structure Build - Seating for 25

Back at the Ranch with a load of wood, it feels great to be another step closer to our picnic structure build (May 2018). We’ve sealed the lumber in preparation for the construction of the picnic shelter.
The picnic area grounds will be graded to ensure a level installation and the picnic location is conveniently located near the galley in the Dr. Keith Marlow Center. This will be a delightful place to gather and enjoy a meal or just to relax with others and experience the quiet, outdoor beauty in the views.

UPDATE- Check out our progress! The final stages of completion are nearing.

Next, we will be preparing the ground for the installation of pavers, adding shade screens, and the final step, building picnic table seating.
This is just the beginning of many great additions to come at Silver Sky Ranch, A Warrior's Oasis.
Your donations will keep our Mission to serve Those who have served our Nation moving forward. We thank you!

Murphy Bed Build- UPDATE

We are in the process of building Murphy beds for the Betty Marlow Center. We will have medical professionals and certified therapists present for support during daily ranch operations for our service members and veterans. This building houses counseling or medical office space by day, and at night, each office room has a Murphy bed that can be opened for sleep.

A Warrior's Oasis, Inc. is working to create a warm, welcoming, and traditional environment that service members and veterans were accustomed to while in the service.

We are developing guest sleeping facilities from converted shipping containers and will be placing them throughout the Ranch. These converted spaces will feature amenities that provide a familiar military design and style that will be very comforting to our future guests.

Our recreation building will be a relaxing and fun space to enjoy a game of cards, pool, air hockey, ping pong, darts, shuffle board to name just a few activities.

Fishing Lake - An amazing area to drop a line and just relax.

Horseback Riding - several gentle horses and a complete supply of proper tack to serve many riders.

Hiking Trails - Markings on trails will take hikers or riders on an enjoyable tour of the beautiful acreage that awaits each guest.

The atmosphere of AWO's facility will be designed in such a way that allows service members and veterans to escape the stressors of everyday life, clearing their minds, and getting back to being themselves.

We are raising funds from single donors and corporations via the website. We are planning to network with other military service organizations such as the United States Navy League, the USO, and The American Legion. Donations and grants will be used to further develop the Ranch and to provide scholarships to those who are in need and cannot afford to pay fees.

A Warrior’s Oasis’ focus is to create an atmosphere that is relaxing and peaceful. Those who suffer from PTSD can enjoy the day without any triggers from stress. Natural sounds of the wind blowing, birds chirping, and ranch animals will contribute to this quiet location in which everyone can rest and clear their minds. A Warrior's Oasis, Inc. will provide support for military service members coping with PTSD(post-traumatic stress disorder). More specifically, AWO will operate a ranch/camp facility for active duty Service Members, Reservists, and Veterans to debrief, relax, and receive support to cope with their condition.
By doing so, our Organization will support the well-being of those who have served our nation and their families. We are incorporated in the state of New Mexico.

There are countless organizations working throughout the United States to relieve the burden endured by those who have worn the uniform of the armed forces. PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), TBI (traumatic brain injury), and other physical and mental injuries can leave these heroes in need of support, and it's an obligation that A Warrior’s Oasis views as an honor to fulfill.
